What Is Evil Eye In Islam?

Like other religions in Islam evil eye concept is available even in The Sacred book of Muslims "Quran" the concept of the evil eye is also available. In Islamic society, many scholars raise the question of what the evil eye actually is.

The answer to this question is still available in the Holy Book Quran which is "And from the evil of the envier when he envies"(Al-Falaq verse No.113:5), so you can clearly see that and research yourself too about this verse.

How To Protect Yourself From Evil Eyes In Islam?

In all evil eye believer's religions, some tips and methods are suggested to protect themselves from the evil eye. As Muslims believe in prayer(Dua) therefore in Islam some special prayers are suggested to ward off the evil eye which is called "Dua" for protection from the evil eye.

The Dua for protection is included the following:

أ’عضو بي كلماتيلله التمتع من شارع ما خلق

Translation: I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of that which He has created.

أ’عضو بي كلماتيلله التمتع من غضبه و ‘عقبيه, و من شارع ‘عبده و من حمزة الشياطين و أن يحضرون

Translation: I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from His wrath and punishment, from the evil of His slaves and from the evil promptings of the devils, and from their presence.

Special Dua For Protection From Evil Eye

Here are some special words also taught to recite for protection which is as follows:

حسبي الله لا إلها إلى هو, ‘عليه توكلت و هو ربلئرش إل‘عظيم

Translation: "Allah is sufficient for me, none has the right to be worshipped but He, in Him I put my trust and He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne".

The Proper Method In Islam For Protection Against Evil Eye

It is said that if it is confirmed or suspected that a person has been afflicted by the evil eye, then the person who put the evil eye on him/her, should be ordered to wash him or herself on the behalf of his/her. And then brought a vessel filled with water and the giver of the evil eye put his/her hand in the water and rinsed his/her face with that water and then put his left hand in the water and washed his/her left knee and washed inside his/her garments too.

Then the used water by the giver should be poured over the head of the person to whom he or she put an evil eye. And then pouring it in behind once. He or she will be healed.

Evil Eye Traditions In Islamic Countries

The concept of the evil eye can be traced back to ancient times when it was believed that certain individuals or objects were responsible for causing harm or misfortune to others.
